Recently the railway was pleased to welcome some visitors from our friends in Ukraine. The girls, from Kyiv and Lviv, are involved at a heritage railway back in their hometowns and are part of a project to establish Museums in both cities.
A group of steam locomotives that will eventually be displayed in the museums are currently being stored in Poland. In the meantime, the girls are travelling for inspiration, visiting the NRM and KWVR as well as the ELR, and have a particular interest in the restoration of carriages.
The visit was organised by the New Europe Railway Heritage Trust which specialises in preservation in Eastern Europe.
