Class 26, 26007 Additional Running Dates

A Class Act this Summer/Autumn

The East Lancashire Railway is thrilled to be hosting the visiting Class 26, 26007/D5300 for the next few months.

The locomotive entered service back in 1958, the first of one of forty-seven such engines that were built by the Birmingham Railway Carriage and Wagon company at Smethwick. The locomotives were part of a British Rail Modernisation Plan that saw an increased requirement for small diesel locomotives.

The locomotive was withdrawn in 1993, along with the last of its sisters, and is one of thirteen that have since entered preservation. Don’t miss the opportunity to take a ride with her on the East Lancashire Railway before she heads back home.

The loco will also be running as a guest during our Autumn Diesel Gala.
