Autumn at the East Lancashire Railway

Living our best Autumn lives this September and October at the East Lancs.

The leaves might be falling but it’s safe to say our spirits are still at an all-time high (and we’re not just talking about the ghoulies on our Halloween Ghost Trains). It’s one of our favourite times of year in the Irwell Valley, as we start to ramp things up for the festive extravaganzas of November and December.

We’ll be heading out on one final adventure with the eccentric enchanters of the Wizard Academy and finishing the season off with our spooktacular Halloween Ghost Trains!

Autumn Appetisers

Time to load up for winter (like a bear), and fortunately there are plenty of places along the line to pick up a snack or something to drink. In Heywood you can stop for a cuppa at Tilly’s Tea Room or the Whistlestop Café before setting off on your journey, then take a quick stop along the route for a drink at The Trackside in Bury, or to browse the boutique cafés of Ramsbottom. Once you reach Rawtenstall you can finish things off with something sweet at Molly’s Cakes and a soft drink at Fitzpatrick’s Temperance Bar.
